Tromsø
Depending on the day, our friendly captain and crew will head either north or south. Both routes offer an excellent opportunity to learn more about Tromsø, the city’s history, the surrounding area, and our traditions and why Tromsø is officially known as the Gateway to the Arctic.
With the help of our dedicated, English-speaking local guide, you’ll gain a deeper insight into what it’s like to live north of the Arctic Circle, and what it means to experience two months of polar night every single year. You’ll also hear stories about the famous warship Tirpitz, which was sunk very close to Tromsø, as well as the unusual plan to introduce musk oxen to a small nearby island.
A trip with us also offers a great opportunity to get up close to local wildlife. Nature is always unpredictable and sightings can never be guaranteed, but we sometimes hope to spot the majestic white-tailed eagle. In addition, we may be lucky enough to see curious yet shy porpoises, white-beaked dolphins, or harbor seals. It doesn’t happen every day, but once in a while we’re fortunate!
And of course, we always serve complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate from our onboard kiosk. You can also purchase other snacks and refreshments if you wish a perfect way to warm up in our comfortable passenger lounge.
